There is an abundance of really bad concepts for web images. Among these are overuse of Microsoft Clip Art, Word Art, and just people who have a need to put way too many “cute” things on their site. I also am not a fan of “FBT’s” (Flashy, Blinky Things), but they do occasionally have their place. Here’s some examples of how the bad stuff looks and how you might fix it:

WordArt: Somehow WordArt just never seems to look as good as it did on your Word doc. Oh yeah... that’s right, it didn’t even look good there.

Use NetStudio’s tools and create a more aesthetically pleasing graphic or banner.

Clip Art: OK, everyone has Microsoft Office and they know where you got your stuff. The clips are getting better, but still have that “institutionalized” feel to them. The newer graphics will look sharper. Only use these when you’ve got a 10am deadline for that new site and then leaving town in a hurry (permanently)!

Get Creative! Use student art for your site. Scan drawings or take digital photos and then tweak with a graphics program like Ulead’s SmartSaver Pro. Use “quality” images and photos from NetStudio’s gallery.

FBT’s (Flashy, BlinkyThings):
I think the federal government has posted a health warning on your web browser. Viewing these can cause nausea!

A new 12 Step Recovery Program is now available for those addicted to FBT’s. Seriously, use motion only for a purpose and avoid the continually looping object. You can set certain images in GIF to delay. Both to right created with Ulead GIF Animator.
